Marc Elrick

Principal & Founder

Marc is the founding principal of Critical Path Group. A graduate of the Royal Military College of Canada, Marc was an operational naval officer for eight years, serving in Halifax Class warships with allied navies around the world before being recruited by a global management consulting firm. He subsequently founded Critical Path Group in January, 2003. Marc holds a BA (Hons) and an MBA specializing in technology commercialization and new venture planning.

A prolific networker, Marc believes strongly in distinguishing between leadership and management – defining management as coping with business complexity, and leadership as coping with the human element of change. When not leading the firm, Marc practices being an “earth astronaut” – skiing, mountain biking, and fly fishing in the mountains of western Canada & the United States. He is also an avid scuba diver and standup paddle boarder. He has lived in Canada, the UK, Germany, and Australia.

Erynn Shannon

Managing Director

Erynn is Managing Director at Critical Path Group, managing multiple client projects exclusively within the venture capital and technology industries. Her project portfolio includes developing strategic business plans and managing financing forums and entrepreneur training activities in the technology sector. Erynn is also the Associate Executive Director of the Canadian Financing Forum. With a background in the life sciences sector and public administration, Erynn has held positions in the Faculty of Medicine at both the University of Alberta and the University of Toronto. Prior to joining Critical Path Group, she was in charge of marketing and public relations for one of Canada’s leading cancer research centers.

Erynn holds a BMgt in Accounting from the University of Lethbridge and an MBA specializing in International Business from Toronto’s Ryerson University. A classically trained pianist, Erynn also enjoys exploring the globe. She has travelled extensively throughout Asia, North and Central America, the Caribbean, New Zealand and Europe, having completed the final semester of her MBA program in Linz, Austria.

Aryn Guthrie

Senior Project Manager

Aryn serves as Senior Project Manager at Critical Path Group where she currently oversees the AGRI Tech Venture Forum and the Decentralised Energy Forum from conception into a dynamic event programs. Aryn comes to Critical Path Group with a background in executing large-scale fundraising events, and previously served as the Marketing Communications Lead across Critical Path Group’s full portfolio projects.

Aryn holds a Bachelor of Communication, majoring in Journalism from Mount Royal University. Outside of work, you’ll find her in the mountains snowboarding, mountain biking, or finding out where her next adventure will take her.

Hailey Monar

Project Manager

Hailey holds a Project Manager position at Critical Path Group and is responsible for managing the planning, design, and completion of two annual events. Both projects, the PROPEL Energy Tech Forum, and the Banff Venture Forum, are focused on venture capital and technology commercialization. Her experience with Critical Path Group, as the lead on marketing, communications, and logistics for the full portfolio of projects has provided the necessary experience required to manage both Forums. She holds a background in event management, marketing, social media, and public relations, which ensures a strong foundation and a wholesome approach to the project architecture.

Hailey has a Bachelor of Commerce degree with a major in Marketing from the University of Ottawa’s Telfer School of Business. Outside of the office, Hailey enjoys spending time in Fernie with friends and family. She is passionate about travelling and as such, she has visited several countries and islands including the United States, Tanzania, France, Mexico, Costa Rica, and Barbados.

Spencer Coulter

Project Manager

As a Project Manager at Critical Path Group, Spencer is currently responsible for the strategic development, management and execution of the Atlantic Venture Forum. In his previous role as Marketing Lead, Spencer has developed additional skills through engaging with marketing communications and media partners, as well as executing various marketing plans and event logistics. Spencer comes to Critical Path Group with a background in event management, design, marketing, and public relations.

Spencer holds a Business Administration Diploma with a major in both Marketing and Management from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology. Outside of the office, Spencer enjoys a variety of outdoor activities including hiking, rafting, sailing and beach volleyball. He also enjoys traveling to new destinations, having already traveled to places such as Belize, Switzerland, France, Italy, Hawaii, Mexico, and the Dominican Republic.
